This article elaborates all details about Tamil Nadu 12th result 2020. The Directorate of Government Examinations(DGE) is a wing under the School Education Department of  Government of Tamil Nadu.

The main functions of DGE involve the following.

  • Conducting public exams for the students of 10th and 12th classes of Tamil Nadu state board every academic year.
  • Release of exam results on time and Issuing certificates under the authority of Government of Tamil Nadu.

Every year, DGE conducts the class XII board examination on the month of March and they publish the results by April month. Almost 8 lakh students appear for the exam yearly. Passing this exam and obtaining valid mark certificate is vital in order to pursue higher education or further job prospects.

Tamil Nadu 12th Result 2020:

The scheduled timetable for class XII examination for 2020 was from 2/3/2020 to 24/3/2020 as follows.

Owing to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic crisis, the Prime Minister of India imposed the first phase of nationwide lockdown from 24 March 2020. As a result,  exam for Chemistry /Accountancy /Geography is still pending. Initially, the state education minister released a revised timetable to conduct the test on 4 June 2020.

But the Madras High Court has ordered to postpone the exam due to the rapid surge in Corona cases constantly in the state.  As per the latest announcements, the pending exam is likely to be held on 16 June 2020.

A senior official from the Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu (TNDGE) has confirmed that the evaluation for HSE +2 answer sheets begins by May 27, 2020. Almost 25, 000 assigned staff will evaluate nearly 50 lakh answer sheets.

The evaluation work might  finish by the first week end of June. The last exam would be evaluated after June 16 once the exam completes,  and DGE will publish the results any time later in June 2020.

When is Tamil Nadu State Board HSE 12th results declaration?

Missed your 12th exam registration number ? Here is what you should do.
As of now, there is no provision to check your results without a registration number. For school students, you can ask your school  for the registration number. They will help you. Whereas,  private candidates have to contact the exam centre or service centre where they applied for the exam. How to download your 12th mark sheet?

You can now download your temporary mark sheet from the Directorate’s website.  This facility is available  from 2015.

To download a provisional mark sheet, follow the steps below.

• Visit the following link http://dge.tn.nic.in
• Click on the relevant link, like ‘HSE Second Year March 2020 – Provisional Mark Sheet for Individuals’
• Provisional mark sheet along with Retotal/Revaluation is also available.
• Enter your Register number, Date of Birth and code shown. Click on the View Result button to get your provisional mark sheet.
• The link activates from the day after the results are out. The provisional mark sheet will be valid for 90 days from the date of result. You can use this for admission to higher education meanwhile.

Can you verify your mark sheet online?

Candidates can check for the accuracy of their details in the provisional mark sheet. If there is any discrepancy, certainly, you can report about it and make it right in the original mark sheet. You can go to TNDGE homepage and click on the ‘Online Marksheet Verification’ link to verify.

When will you receive your original mark sheet?

The Directorate of Government Examination will announce the date of issuing original mark sheets,  subsequently after 1 month of result declaration. School students can collect the original mark sheets from their respective schools while private candidates can collect them from their allocated exam centres.

Last year, mark sheets were distributed from June 3, 2019. Likewise, this year it may be July/August 2020.

Minimum marks to quality HSE 12th exam:

The minimum  qualifying marks to pass the examination and become eligible to obtain mark certificate is 35 out of 100 marks in each of the six subjects.

For subjects involving practicals, the splitting of marks is as follows
  • Theory – 70 marks
  • Practical – 20 marks
  • Internal – 10 marks
Atleast 15 marks is necessary to score in theory paper to qualify, provided practical and internal marks summed up with theory marks totals to 35 marks.

No minimum mark is prescribed for practical and internals, but attendance is mandatory for practicals.

Process for Tamil Nadu 12th Supplementary Exam :

Every year, the Directorate of Government Examinations conducts supplementary exam for the candidates who failed the HSE 12th main exam in March. That is to say, they can apply to appear for the supplementary exam held on June/July, irrespective of the number of failed subjects.

How to apply for TN HSE 12th Supplementary Examination :

Special instructions for Private Candidates and School Students

HSE Second Year Arrear Old Pattern: The failed candidates who wrote the exams in the previous years, but in old syllabus,  can write the supplementary exam of June 2020 in the old syllabus itself. For instance, it may be a candidate from 2017-2018 batch. However, from 2021, this is not applicable (New syllabus adopted for TN 12th from 2019-2020)

The failed candidates who wrote the exams in old pattern as 200 mark for each subject, can rewrite their failed or missed paper for a total mark of 70/90,( 70 for paper with practicals and 90 otherwise. ) On the other hand, this mark will be converted to 150/200 respectively.

HSE Second Year Arrear : Similarly, candidates who failed in the new pattern can also apply to rewrite only the failed subject again

Attested copy of Certificate of Marks/Statement of Marks, duly signed by the Headmaster of the school studied, or Headmaster of any government school.

Eligibility certificate from the school Headmaster regarding required attendance (applicable for the absentees of main exam)

Admit card/hall ticket
While applying online, you will get a registration slip. Most importantly,  it has an automatically generated application number. Use this application number to download the hall ticket once it is made available in the DGE website.

Fee details
  • Rs.50 for each failed subject + Rs 35 extra charges + Rs. 50 online fee Eg: For 1 subject, fee= 135. For 2 subjects, fee=185 (pay in cash)
  • There is exemption of fees for the candidates with special needs

When you are unsatisfied with your marks, you have some options to improve your marks. We have elaborated below such options and the details. Certainly, these methods has incorporated transparency in the evaluation process.

Hosting of scanned copy of answer scripts
  • Candidates get to see their answer scripts in person
  • Processing takes 10-15 days
Procedure
  • Apply through school or respective exam centres in case of private candidates
  • Acknowledgement slip generated
Once the scanned copies are ready, they are uploaded in the directorate’s website www.dge.tn.gov.in and the candidates can download them.

Important dates
  • Application link for requesting scanned answer scripts open one or two days after result.
  • Scanned copies are available in a month from the date of application
Fees
  • Rs. 275 per subject
Revaluation
  • Creates accountability for teachers.•    
  • Final result can either be an increase or decrease in marks, consequently.
  •  Marks obtained in revaluation is final. In other words, there is no further appeal.   
  •  Processing takes 10-15 days.

  • Should have applied for scanned copy of answer sheets.
  • Download the application for Revaluation from the Directorate’s official website www.dge.tn.gov.in
Duly fill the application and submit to the concerned Chief Educational Officer, along with fee, within the last date

Fees
  • For each subject, Rs 5 service charge and Rs. 505 per answer sheet
Re-totalling
  • Marks are added once again. Therefore, any questions unevaluated are valued again and final mark is updated
  • Final result can either be an increase or decrease in marks, consequently
Procedure
  • Should have applied for scanned copy of answer sheets.
  • Download the application for Revaluation from the Directorate’s official website www.dge.tn.gov.in
Duly fill the application and submit to the concerned Chief Educational Officer,  along with fee, within the last date
