Career Center Employer Relations Specialist

Awilda Carozza, MS

Awilda Carozza is a dedicated Employment Veteran Advocate with extensive experience as a Women Veteran Transition Specialist from Hire Heroes USA and transitioning into the role of Career Center Employer Relations Specialist. With a Master of Science in Employment Law & Employee Relations from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Business Administration & Human Resources Management from Florida International University, Awilda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role.

Prior to her current position, Awilda held pivotal roles in workforce development and economic opportunity for veterans. As a Regional Veterans’ Program Coordinator at the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), she provided comprehensive training initiatives for the Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) program, equipping personnel across 24 Local Workforce Development Boards with essential skills to provide employment opportunities for veterans. Before that, she worked as a Veteran Career Coach and Employer Outreach Engagement Coordinator under the JVSG grant, offering employment readiness coaching and counseling for veteran job seekers and advocating for enhanced employment opportunities for veterans through outreach to businesses and organizing recruiting events.

With a strong commitment to empowering veterans, Awilda is actively involved in various professional affiliations and memberships. She is a member of the Women Veterans Committee at Mission United Broward County, a Veteran Volunteer at The Mission Continues Broward & Miami Platoon, a member of Broward Vetworking, and a Volunteer Career Readiness Coach for FourBlock’s Minneapolis Cohort.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Awilda is a woman of many roles and enjoys spending time with her family. Married for 15 years, she is a dedicated mother to two active boys who participate in baseball, chess club, drama, and swimming. In her spare time, she serves as an “UBER driver” for her boys, supporting them in their various activities.

Awilda’s dedication to advocating for enhanced employment opportunities for veterans, coupled with her extensive experience and education in workforce development, make her a valuable asset in empowering veterans in their transition to civilian employment.
