Jacelynmarie Achiu, BSW

Jacelynmarie Achiu of Hawai’i is the current 2024 SY Vice President of the RebelVET Student organization, SVA Chapter, at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Jacelynmarie Achiu served as a 14T PATRIOT Missile Operator/Maintainer and reclassed to a 27D Trial Defense Paralegal, before being medically retired after 10 plus years of service.

Jacelynmarie holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree and is continuing her higher education journey in the Master of Public Administration Program at UNLV. She is also a Student Veteran of America (SVA) Leadership Institute Fellow and graduated with her Cohort in October of 2023. Jacelynmarie has served on the Women’s Committee for the RebelVets that was fully staffed by both women veterans, and civilian women with a military affiliation. Collectively, the committee successfully produced and hosted the first-ever Women Veteran Educational Retreat, at UNLV. She is currently serving her second year as a Team Lead at the UNLV Peer Advisor for Veteran Education (PAVE) office, where she started off as a Peer Advisor.

Through her work in RebelVets, PAVE, and her experience through her Social Work path, Jacelynmarie continues to serve active duty, Veterans, and Military Family Members. She believes in the power of empowering Peer Support. She knows first-hand how to combat the issues and concerns that may come up in the military/veteran population and is knowledgeable with resources or community connections that are in place to address them.

Jacelynmarie is also trained as a Victim Advocate, in Suicide Prevention, and providing Peer Support to Veterans Transitioning and Navigating through college.
